In conventional grids, centralized fossil-fueled power stations use rotating machines to keep the voltage and frequency steady. Wind and solar generators, on the other hand, supply energy decentrally and irregularly. Without appropriate buffer technology, the grid’s stability can be disrupted. The target of our research and development it to prevent such disruptions and to make the use of renewable energies possible.
Offsetting with grid-tied storage
With the help of high-performance energy storage and software to manage energy flow, we can offset the natural fluctuations that occur when generating regenerative energies. At our island test bay, we have proved that fossil fuels are not necessary to maintain a stable grid.
At the island test bay in Berlin we are developing the concepts to regulate grids and manage energy that are necessary to oper-ate stable grids on renewable energies in every region of the world.
