The Italian olive oil and wine producer Castello Monte Vibiano in Umbria had an ambitious target: starting in 2009, the production of its organically grown oil and wine should completely CO2-free.
An important step in this direction was the company’s decision to install solar charging stations for electric vehicles in 2008. The energy is generated from a bi-axial photovoltaic tracking system. Energy accumulated is temporarily stored in a battery. And so, no matter what the weather, solar energy is always available to charge agricultural machinery and Vetrix maxi scooters with reliable CO2-free energy.
These charging stations are a part of the “360° revolution” of the centuries-old family winery. In the future, the owners want the winery to become totally self-sufficient in renewable energies. It is their contribution to preserving the unique beauty of the countryside.
