The Y.Cube is an all-in-one system within a single enclosure that houses the Y.Converter units, selected DC battery block and HVAC and auxiliary components, with operation and performance managed by Younicos controls. All components are tailor-made with bidirectional fast-response storage applications in mind.
The bidirectional Y.Converter upgrades existing power conversion technology with embedded Younicos controls, delivering the highest level of reliability for island and continental grids. Rather than connecting a high quantity of DC racks behind a single large PCS, the Y.Cube links a smaller number of racks in parallel behind each 250 kVA PCS. The greater degree of distribution minimizes usable battery capacity losses and mitigates potential fault current risk.
Younicos controls are directly embedded in the Y.Converter. Deploying real-time responses within 35 milliseconds, it supports simultaneous performance of multiple modes. Settings and modes can be configured remotely via a secure web-based user interface.
Its space-saving and modular design allows for easy shipping and installation and multiple battery technologies to be used. Thanks to extensive battery testing we can recommend the most suitable battery technology and manufacturer for every power/energy ratio.
The Y.Cube manages battery rack cooling within more consistent limits than is typical for a conventional 40 ft container, resulting in fewer parasitic losses and slower battery degradation, while also maintaining PCS hardware within optimal operating conditions.
The fire suppression tank is filled with an agent gas, fire and smoke detection units, dispersal nozzles, and a gas actuator. Additionally, the modular enclosures provide increased segmentation of the system with a fire-rated barrier.
